Welcome to a place where History Matters!
My Story began far from my beloved Oklahoma but the roots that hold me fast go deep into the rich, red soil of this state. The photo above with my Writing Motto on it personifies me more than anything else, from my heritage to my faith. We are well known here for the Five Civilized Tribes and many others who have called it home for centuries—even the name of the state means red men! While I have no Native American blood in my veins, I admire and appreciate the heritage they have given to all of us. And, I enjoy honoring them through my writing.
From my earliest memories, I have cherished the importance history has in our worldwide cultures, not merely our own country or state. I truly believe the adage that if we fail to study and learn from it, we are doomed to repeat its mistakes and miss out on its joys. One factor that fueled this was having a dad who was a history major in college, and who was also an officer in the US Air Force. When I was six years old, he was transferred to London, England, and we had the privilege of living there for four years. During our extensive travels throughout Great Britain and Europe, my father made certain we knew about every cathedral, museum, country, and city we visited. And I was firmly hooked on history, whether standing among ancient ruins or on lonely beach heads or visiting cemeteries. On the My Bio page, you can read more details about this experience and its impact on me and who I am today. The primary foundation stone of my life, however, is my faith in Jesus Christ. Every word I write is done to glorify Him alone. On the tab My Faith Testimony, you can read further about the steps God has used to shape me into the woman, wife, mother, and writer I am today! He has called me to write for Him, and humbly I have tried to obey by learning all I can about the industry, acquiring the skills necessary, and doing the research required. More about this can be seen in greater detail on the My Writing tab. As He intertwined my story with His story, the result has been a deep appreciation for the past and an eagerness to discover how He intends to use all this for His honor in the future. Because, after all, History Matters! |
